My First Session
What to bring, what to wear, and how a visit flows.
What should I bring?
A swimsuit and water bottle are all you need. You will shower before using the facility. We provide lockers, towels, and slippers for convenience. Robes are available for purchase, but are not recommended in the sauna or steam room.
What do I wear?
Clean swimwear is required in all shared spaces. When you arrive, you’ll receive slippers and towels. To protect your skin and the materials, always drape a towel around your waist when seated in the sauna and steam room.
Red light works best on bare skin, so you are welcome to wear as little as you are comfortable with. For massages, our experienced therapists will ensure you are draped for privacy.
Timing for my session?
Check in begins 15 minutes before a session start time. You may use this time to shower and get acquainted before starting your session.
All reservations for sauna, steam, and cold plunge are 90 minutes. You should expect 60 minutes using the services plus 30 minutes for showering, questions, and using the amenities.
If you show up late, you forfeit the beginning of your session. No-shows or late cancellations result in a $75 fee. We have 4 showers, so during peak times you may have to wait for someone to finish.
Treatments
How each modality works, and how to combine them.
What is contrast therapy?
Contrast therapy alternates heat and cold. Spend 10–20 minutes in the traditional sauna, then 1–5 minutes in the cold plunge, repeating 2–3 times. This technique is thought to enhance blood flow through repeated blood vessel dilation and constriction.
You should not engage in contrast therapy if you have any cardiac or neurological condition(s), take medication, or are feeling lightheaded. Always speak to a physician before engaging in a new wellness practice.
I’ve never cold plunged. How do I start?
Cold plunging is an intense experience that takes practice. Our twin plunges have two temperature settings. Use the warmer one for your first few times, spending a minute or less submerged as you adapt. You must focus on slow, steady breathing.
Build up strength for the colder unit by spending more time submerged each time you come. Always listen to your body. If you feel lightheaded, step out immediately.
Should I plunge immediately after training?
It depends on your goal. Cold submersion post-training can help with soreness. If your goal is muscle growth, recent studies have shown that cold immersion post-training can inhibit muscle growth. While more studies are needed, to stay on the safe side, we suggest waiting a few hours after training if your goal is muscle growth.
What is the difference between the sauna and steam room?
Our traditional sauna is a dry heat at a higher temperature, handcrafted with virgin cedar wood to limit off-gassing caused by heat. The steam room uses a steam injector unit and maintains humidity near 100% for a blissful experience.
Traditional Sauna vs. Infrared
Our space is built around contrast therapy, and our handcrafted traditional sauna’s higher heat makes the switch from the cold plunge more effective. It’s also the type used in most long-term sauna research. Infrared cabins are often pre-fabbed, run cooler, and heat the body more directly (as opposed to heating the air).
If you’re used to an infrared sauna, keep your sessions shorter as you learn how your body adjusts. If you’re looking for the benefits of infrared, our quad red light can emit either pulses or sustained waves of infrared. Just let your tech know which you prefer.
What happens during red light therapy?
You’ll sit on a massage table in front of a four-panel array of red light, with the option to add infrared (a longer-wavelength light, invisible to the human eye). Red light therapy is non-invasive and painless (you may experience a warming sensation that many find calming).
Sessions run either 15 or 30 minutes. Consistent use (~3x a week) is required for best results. Protective eyewear is provided and must be worn the entire session. Never look directly into the light emitters.
Do you offer massage?
Yes. Body treatments take place in our private treatment room and are booked on a separate schedule. Our full menu is coming soon.
Memberships & Credits
How access works, and what’s included.
How do credits work?
Each credit is one 90-minute visit to the sauna, steam room, and cold plunges, as well as access to our showers, lockers, and other amenities. Memberships add credits every month, and packs give you a set number of credits to use within a set time period.
You are welcome to relax in the open lobby as long as the chairs are not reserved for IV patients.
What memberships do you offer?
- Recharge3 credits per month
- Recover5 credits per month
- PerformUnlimited* credits per month
*Perform members cannot use more than one credit per day.
Make sure you are signed up for our emails to receive member benefits such as priority booking, member-only times, and exclusive offers/events. Check your specific membership details for detailed benefits at each tier.
Can I visit without a membership?
Yes. Day passes are available, and credit packs suit guests who’d rather skip a monthly commitment. Note that per-credit pricing for packs is higher than for memberships.
Are red light therapy and massage included in the membership?
Both are booked and priced separately, so you can add them to any visit or book them on their own. Certain memberships may receive discounts on these services. Check your membership details for more info.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Membership credits reset at the start of each monthly billing cycle. Packages expire after the time listed during purchase.
Can I pause or cancel my membership?
You may freeze a recurring membership for up to 12 months per 24-month period for a fee of $50 per month, by request through the app or by email before your next billing date. Freezes for medical reasons, with a doctor’s note, are free of charge.
Hyperbaric & IV
Provided on site by Mana Warrior’s licensed nursing team.
Who provides hyperbaric oxygen and IV therapy?
Both are provided by Mana Warrior, a licensed nursing team that works alongside us in the space. Their nurses administer and monitor every session, not Surf Haus Wellness staff. For questions regarding these modalities, please visit manawarrior.com.
How do I book a hyperbaric or IV session?
If you’re ready to book, please visit manawarrior.com/booking. All questions will be answered during your consultation with a licensed nurse.
Surf Haus Wellness staff cannot answer medical questions or recommend medical treatments. Your treatments will be facilitated by a member of Mana Warrior’s nursing team.
Do I need to book a consultation?
Yes. Expect a health screening with the nursing team before your first treatment. You will need to provide your medical history. They’ll confirm if the treatment is right for you and answer any questions related to the treatment.
Health & Safety
Who should check with a physician first, and how to stay comfortable.
Is contrast therapy or extreme temperature exposure right for me?
Heat and cold place real demands on the body. If you’re pregnant, have a heart or blood pressure condition, take medication, or have any other preexisting conditions, check with your physician before your first visit. You should always speak with a medical practitioner before starting a new wellness, supplement, or fitness routine.
Is there a minimum age?
Our space is exclusive to guests aged 18 years or older. We may ask for identification and reserve the right to turn away guests who cannot prove their age.
How do I stay comfortable during a visit?
Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your session. Do not use the facility if you are sick or under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or any other drugs. We will refuse anyone who is visibly sick or impaired.
Always listen to your body and step out of a treatment whenever you need to. If you are feeling uneasy, alert a staff member who can help you get comfortable or get help if needed.
What if I feel unwell during a session?
Leave the heat or cold right away, sit down somewhere comfortable, and let a member of our team know.
Booking & Policies
How to book, change, or cancel, and how to find us.
How do I book?
The easiest way to book is through the Surf Haus app, available on the App Store and Google Play Store. You may also reserve a session through our website or in person. We suggest booking ahead to ensure space is available.
Make sure you know your account credentials and keep them secure to prevent account misuse.
What is your cancellation and late-arrival policy?
Check your booking for your treatment’s specific policy. Mana Warrior sets their own policies.
For standard sessions, cancel or reschedule at least 12 hours before your reserved time to keep your credit. Late cancellations and missed visits will use the credit or incur a $75 charge if you are an unlimited member. Sessions end at their scheduled time, so a late arrival shortens your visit.
What are your hours?
